BC numbers are not local

Post by sip »

Freephoneline added a few numbers for BC and AB. I checked some numbers like Vancouver 604-283-xxxx and New Westminister 778-801-xxxx. All are considered as long distance by Telus and other VOIP companies. I haven't called Telus and asked them why. Any feedback from here? I will activate my number when those 604-283 become local. Thanks

Some carriers aren't adding our new NPA-NXXs into their tariff plans - as they are required to do by the CRTC. We have tried contacting our carrier reps but they simply say "it's a residential issue, the customers will have to call and open a ticket".

Your best bet is to phone your provider, talk to as high of a manager as you can, and get a ticket opened. Customers who have done this in the past have had great success (mostly) and have gotten the tariffs in their areas corrected.

Having the same issue here with my Solo Mobile phone. I hope the carriers fix this issue soon.

Unfortunately there is nothing we are able to do. This needs to be taken up with the carrier, and since Bell owns Solo's network you will have to open a ticket with them, the issue we're addressing is the "Fibernetics exchanges being long distance to a LOCAL number."
