When i took my ata on a one day trip so i could use my homephone from another location, i called my home number while ata was unplugged. It would ring once and then i would get a busy signal. I did numerous tests and same thing each time. When the ata is unplugged and someone calls, isn't the voicemail supposed to pick up vs. a busy signal?
Thanks

Re: Voicemail when ATA unplugged
I got a different scenario last week when unplugging my ATA: the phone was not ringing at all and the voicemail was not picking up messages.
The situation went back to normal after 1 hour or so and I didn't loose any messages wtih the ATA unplugged.
Depending on your ATA model, check the Registry Expiration in the Advanced Configuration Panel. Mine is set to 3600 seconds.
To prevent losing any messages, dial *72 followed by your phone number. This will forward inbound calls to voicemail without ringing the phone. Once you plug the ATA, dial *73 to cancel call forwarding.

Re: Voicemail when ATA unplugged
It does take a while for the Fongo servers to recognise the ATA is no longer connected. Maybe that had something to do with it.

Re: Voicemail when ATA unplugged
Thanks lustucru. Good to know to do *72 before unplugging. However the servers should register the ata is unplugged quickly in the event of a power failure. But they dont seem to do so. Too bad
