ATA configuration

Post by mokongo »

Hi gentlemen!
Recently I got my config file and I'm having some problems with inbound calls, when receiving there is a busy signal always, however when sending I can hear the voice, the ports are open because the softphone used to work with no problems, the ata device is a pap2-na and I tried most of the tricks posted on this forum, any ideas what that could be? thanks a lot.

Based on my experience, the softphone works for most setups out of the box, where as, ATAs almost always run into problems with NAT traversal (no incoming calls, one way audio, etc). It would be great if the softphone configuration is completely documented so that one could try to match the ATA configuration to that of the softphone. We already know the ports it uses for communication but I'd be more interested in the settings that manage NAT traversal (STUN, ICE, etc), as these need to be explicitly enabled on the ATAs.

You need to modify the ports for the ATA. Those softphone ports would have been forwarded to the PC. Now, you want to forward UDP ports 5060-6061 and 10000-20000 to the IP address of the ATA.

Busy signal = SIP invite packets not reaching your ATA (99% of the time at least)

Well, its working now, however I had to open practically all UDP ports, to those with the same problem I would recommend to move your ATA device to a DMZ segment of your network if security is a concern, but who knows, nowadays nothing is safe no more.
