software install claims I have less than 512MB ram

I'll keep this simple. I'm trying to install the softphone on Windows XP. I have 512MB of ram. I double-checked that windows also sees the correct amount of ram - it does. And yet, still, the softphone refuses to install because it complains that I have less than 512MB of ram. How do I work around this bug so I can use this service?
