ADT & FreePhoneLine

Post by col127 »

hi everyone,

just wondering if anyone has successfully setup their FPL to work with ADT Canada? i've read on another forum (redflagdeals) that someone had this working successfully, but it's not working for me. my FPL works fine with my handset (i bought the config file) and it even dials out when i was testing my alarm system. however, ADT was not receiving any signals from my system. when i switched my line from FPL to my rogers home phone and did the connection test, ADT received the signal. so it's definitely something with my FPL line...

is there certain 'settings' to setup my router or my ATA adapter (pap2t) that i need to change for ADT to receive the signal?

my setup is this. i've got my cable modem hooked up to my wireless n router (apple base station extreme) in my office on the 2nd floor.

in the basement, i've got a linksys wrt54g acting as a wireless bridge. i've plugged my ata adapter into the ethernet port and that's plugged into the phone line that my rogers home phone used to be hooked up to.

thanks for any help :)

I would try contacting ADT directly for help or suggestions.

If you get anywhere, please reply back!! Also, I found this online:
-----
If an IP-based phone services provider has not informed ADT that it meets these characteristics, ADT will continue to require its customers using such phone services to either keep their traditional phone line or to install a cellular transmission system. Regardless of the type of phone service used, ADT always recommends customers use an additional back-up method of communication to connect their alarm system to ADT's monitoring centers.

Customers who switch from a land line to an IP-based telephone service can expect their cable or telecommunications provider to ask them to contact ADT when the new phone service is installed.

ADT customers can contact ADT at 1-800-ADT-ASAP to learn which IP-based phone services are acceptable to ADT as a primary means of alarm communication in their area.
