Re: software calls but no sound whatever!!
I have the same problem. I have installed the new freephoneline software because the old one stopped working from Feb 28. After installing the new one, it worked well for two days for outgoing and incoming calls. But for the past three days, it no longer works properly. Can still dial and get connected for outgoing calls, but no sound at all. Incoming calls can also stilll come through, but after picking up, no sound at all. Please fix the problem!

Have you checked if the application was added in the firewall's exception list on your PC?
Thanks,

Same problem - outgoing calls no sound. I've checked the programs in the firewall... made sure freephoneline is allowed. (I don't have the box / sip - I just use the software.) Is support reading this? How can we get this working, please? Thanks.

A lot of other people are having this same issue with one way audio. See this other post link below.

Re: software calls but no sound whatever!!
Thanks TrickyLee1. Yes.I have read a lot of the posts with similar/related problems (which includes the link you quoted.) I just want to mention, for others' benefit, I checked my firewall again. I found one message that says port 5060 was blocked. and the more details says that " port 44055 on your machine [i.e. that's MY machine] from port 50195 on a remote computer whose IP address is 208.65.240.44." [i.e that's fongo.] I thought the port opening was for ATA/SIP only. I think if fongo rolls out new software (which includes whatever fongo wants to include as 'side effects' or whatever brings them the revenue - otherwise why is it free? - then that's fine. But it should be tested and if the user needs to allow things (i.e. open ports, etc.), then they should tell the user. Most average users don't know these things. What is surprising is that with this amount of people writing here (imagine how many more people have problems but are not writing), there should be some quick answers - a bulletin/announcement for users to follow. Otherwise, to just tell people to PM seems strange. (Is it some type of 'inside information' ?) Why not just lay out the facts out in the open and this way relieve fongo the headache of solving each one separately? Surely, everyone has a different router (/hard firewall), or service provider, software firewall, etc. in which case the exceptions can be mentioned. Long story short: What is it that FPL version 3.2.6.0 requires in order to work properly? Everyone open this / that port? make sure this and that is included in the exception list in the firewall? (e.g. is there any exception in the firewall other than to allow freephoneline.exe? does everybody need to open 5060-5061, 6060-6061 and 13000-13001? or have I missed any formal announcement somewhere?) Thanks. P.S. many times when I try to dial out, I don't even get the counter, so it's not just the audio in for me. What will happen to all the people who don't manage to make at least one call within a certain number of days? Are they going to cancel our numbers? Or should we pay some money to keep the services? It says on http://www.freephoneline.ca/optionalServices# that they charge $4.95 a month (see under Home Phone tab) for what FPL gives for free? or am I missing something? Thanks. PS. did anyone have spam sent out from their hotmail / yahoo account? just asking.. because it happened to me and I have all sort of 'protection'. Could it be the software tracks keystrokes? It happened to more than one of my emails (in the last few months)... [spam was sent right out of my email, as it it was me. and email log-in activity showed as India / Brazil on that day. Freephone (and one other, free service) is the only type of unusual software I have. (ended up deleting the other one, kept FPL.) The rest is just MS office, etc. very standard. I hope this message/posting doesn't get deleted. Because, let's face it! Bottom Line: THERE IS NO FREE LUNCH! At least it tasted good (i.e. FPL was great until it stopped working and then the audio problems started some time in Feb. 2013 on the new version.) Others who have issues - please post. Let's have it out in the open. We all have to hear /know. (Especially the solutions.) Thanks.
