Freephoneline - New application does not work!

Post by questknow »

Dear Sir,

I am an IT professional and have worked at providing excellent technical support.

I have uninstalled the old application. As you suggested, I have re-installed the new version: 3.2.6.0

I have done this two times.

I have turned off Windows Firewall.

I have opened the port forwarding of both TCP and UDP for 5060 to 5061; 6060 to 6061; 13000 to 13000; 13001 to 13001.

I have verified that all of those ports are open.

I can dial out but no one can hear me.

I have tried calling my number but I only hear rings.

When I do the Test Connection, I receive the following response:

Status: Done.

Results: Call service is OK.

Data transfer: Unable to send/receive sound data! Port 13000 should be available.

Possible reasons: NONE.

I presume that your new application has bugs in it. When are you going to offer a patch or a fix?

I am using an HP laptop with Windows 7.
The router is Linksys 8 port switch Model BEFSR81
It is a cable modem (from Rogers) - WebStar by Scientific Atlanta, Inc.
I am continuing to receive the same error message.

It dosnt look like there is any support left for the Freephone.ca

Old product worked well but it looks like the bussiness has been abandoned...

I have windows 7 on a desktop , Im using DSL on through a TP-LINK (TD-8616), and a LINKSYS WRT-160NV2.

I have tried openin these ports everyone talks about but when I try to set them up in the router they dont save.

Keep in mind it was amazing I figured out how to get into the LINKSYS router. Im not a computer programmer.
Im a mid level home computer user.

I have downloaded the "new" frephone app. but like everyone else, I can dial (and hear it) it makes the phone ring but I have no sound or voice.

The Freephone worked amazingly for the last few months and started going down hill in the last few days.

I get my internet from a company in Kitchener called Execulink.

Thats it ....

Thanks..

Hello there,

Thanks for providing the details. The issue is at your router with the ports. You can try connecting PC/Laptop directly to the TPlink and observe the results.

If it doesn't work connected straight to the modem, please send me a PM and I will have to investigate your account.

Please test and let us know.

Thanks,

Why should there be an issue when the old version worked perfectly ?

Ok to me it sounds like a programme error not a set up error as people are getting the problem with different set ups, I have changed my set up several times and still the same so that sort of eliminates any set up issue and points to a problem with the software,Just my opinion.

Fongo support as got mine to work for which I am most grateful for, Just one little issue now the phone just cuts off about 1 minute into the call, If that gets sorted I will be recommending the full service to everyone.

Thanks Again.

Hi Gary903,

If you have a Bell Wire2 Modem I would suggest to turn off Sip Application Layer Gateway from the web interface.
It's under Advanced->Configure Services
If you have no access to that, you might need to call Bell and have them disable that for you.

Please see attached screenshot for further reference.

Thanks,

I do not have Anywhere in my 2wire 2701 modem where SIP Gateway is listed at all. I can get messages using the softphone or from my email, so the call center is working but not audio send and receive. I cannot even open my contacts, so I say the server is not fuctioning. I opened ALL ports to public and still does not work. NO ONE replies to my support emails. I say time to find a new service.

Sorry have been busy working on my own projects lately, however I just read everyone's messages here and I'm going to help out my friend "Fongo_Support" so that we can try and fix out everyone's problems & issues in this thread!

Seems what everyone previously posted above could be related to ports being blocked from inside your own routers/modems.

Ok one of many simple solutions would be to log into your modem/router and enable the DMZ feature relating to the ip that your voip application or ATA device is currently using.

If it's an ATA SIP Device make sure you have password protected it because once DMZ is enabled it will allow all traffic to pass threw in/out which opens all the ports so that you can continue talking without uninterrupted phone service.

The DMZ method above can be dangerous, so use it with caution at your own risk, the reason I'm suggesting to use this method, due to some routers being too complicated to open the ports required. So this simpler method can be used for the novice Voip users then other technical stuff that I have explained in other parts of this community or the web.

Also once you have enabled the DMZ for a specific ip related to the port problems, make sure to Reserve that IP address for that application or ATA device in your router/modem, then you should be fine and never have to worry about any future port changes.
