Eliminating Bell, dry DSL?

Post by marmota »

I currently have DSL service with ACANAC and a landline with Bell; I would like to transfer my phone service and number from Bell to Freephoneline. Although it seems simple to pay $20 to port the number over and $50 for the config file (I have a SIP enabled router with a VOIP number abroad), what will happen to my internet (DSL not on dry loop)? will my internet be affected by the cancellation?

In other words, If I transfer my number over and cancel the service with bell, what happens to my internet? Can I just keep it like it is? Will I have to do anything? Will I have to pay for a dry loop?

Yes if you have DSL running on the same line as your phone you will need to pay for a dryloop since when you port your number in your DSL will also disconnect (DSL is provisioned over your telephone number).
