SIP Failover

Post by zoro »

Hello everyone,

Since I've received e-mail from FPL about changes that need to be done by March 30th, I have a question.
I am using PAP2T-NA and according no FPL e-mail, Primary SIP server "must" be voip.freephoneline.ca which is my current and secondary SIP server needs to be set to: voip2.freephoneline.ca.

So, my question is where do I put Alternate/secondary SIP Proxy server in PAP2T-NA, if possible at all.

If it's possible, does this provide failover capability in case primary SIP is down; e.g. voip2 to take over in such situation.

I just need little bit of clarification on this.

Appreciated.

Thanks,

Zoro

1) I have one addition to this. Just played with emulator settings for PAP2T-NA and as per my understanding, this would be the way to enable SIP redundancy from PAP2T perspective (see attachment 1).

Can someone from FPL confirm, if this would provide SIP redundancy from user's perspective?

2) As per attachment #2, if we enable this highlighted feature "Restrict Source IP", as per manual, this would allow PAP2 box to reject any SIP server request, but allow only ones entries defined on the box which are resolved by DNS query, e.g. voip.freephoneline.ca and voip2.freephoneline.ca and nothing else?

I think it's good feature for security purposes, so that users don't need to struggle setting up firewall rules for it.

3) You notification e-mail states "Failed Registration Re-Try Interval: 120 seconds". Where is this option on PAP2T-NA...is it in SIP section; Reg Retry Intvl field?

Any thoughts.

Thanks,

Zoro
