port forwarding on your router
Most of the case for this is your router

Yes, your problem almost certainly come for failing to forward required port from the router to the ATA. You might find that running STUN will do the trick.

Bump this post.
I have the same issue; I've discovered it's my AVG firewall that's the problem. If I turn it off, FPL works, if it's on, I get the problem described. FPL is in the list of allowed applications, so I think I have to manually open the port- but I'm not sure which ones. When I ran the status check, I got a message "Unable to send/receive sound data! Port 13000 should be available." This makes me think that this is the port, but even after calling AVG support I couldn't open it. It wanted me to provide "valid values" for the "Remote port." AVG suggested that FPL could provide port numbers. Any suggestions?
