I already have VOIP and wanted the possibility to use Freephoneline/computer when the teenagers are already on the VOIP line.
I can't seem to setup Freephoneline properly. The app is installed but when I test it using the menu setting, I get the following error message.
Status: DOne
results: Timeout expired!
Data transfer: Unable to send/receive soind data! port 13000 should b available
Possible reasons
1 firewall/router blocking....
2 SIP traffic is filtered.....
Ports 6060 and/or 13000 are used by another app
Freephoneline is unblocked in firewall
I have a static address, ports forwarded, etc.
My setup is ISP -->thompson st516 dsl---> Linksys spa2102 --> Trendnet router--->XP ---> freephoneline
My question, could the linksys 2102 filter out the freephoneline data to the XP
If not what can be done to get things working
Thanks

Re: Freephoneline software in conjunction with existing VOIP
You SPA2102 has a built in router in it. You would have to open up the ports in the 2102 to allow them to be directly forwarded to your Trendnet router. You could activate DMZ mode on the SPA2102 router side then everything should pass through it without being filtered as you indicated. Since the SPA2102 is a 2 line device you could purchase an additional SIP settings for another line and then have 2 active telephone lines in your home.
There is also software to test your ports, pfchecker from portforward.com which you can use to test if your specfic ports are in fact open. http://portforward.com/help/portcheck.htm
