Hearing issue with new softphone

I installed the new softphone and am having problems hearing any activities after calling as well when receiving calls. The old softphone software worked just fine. I tried looking for explanation on how to fix it in here and it is all above my head. All I need, so far, is for it to work on my computer as before. I am on Windows XP and using plain old bell's DSL

I hope you mentioned softphone is Fongo Desktop Application.
