FPL for Businesses

Hey, I have an associate who is starting up a local HR/Temporary Services business, and thought to suggest FreePhoneLine as a solution he may want to look into, (small town small office type setup.)

I'm just curious how FreePhoneLine goes about dealing with business type customers, what level of support is available. I'd expect it would probably come to needing to sign up to the LD plan, any ETA on the new pay per minute plans that will negate the need for a LD call gateway?

At the same point, I should probably go read some of the posts on FreePhoneLine w/ Asterisk?

Anyone feel free to answer, likewise if one of the Admins thinks I should have said associate call the FPL service center, or e-mail someone for more info let me know. I do know that they're looking to secure their phoneline for the business before Wednesday.

Well right now we're working on a Small Business product though to be honest I couldn't tell you too much about it, I will definitely find out more for you Monday.

As with Admin's suggestion, for business purposes, I'd suggest checking out our offerings under the Fibernetics name (www.fibernetics.ca). This is literally the dream phone system for any business, and the small upfront cost will make it a wonderful payout in the future. The power of the system is simply unreal for the price, it's all those "big corporate features" without the "big corporate price".

I assume the biggest issue one runs into with FPL accounts is the need for a PBX, thus why I was thinking about reviewing the Asterisk posts. However I don't know exactly what has been accomplished with Asterisk on FPL.

Anyway, all of that aside, I haven't had a chance to "play" with FPL on ATAs and PBXs myself yet. (Hooray gratuitous acronyms!) and I would feel remiss if I used a client as a guinea pig. He knows I haven't done this setup before, and that at this time I'm only working on theory and knowledge, not practice.

I know this is an old thread, but any new developments for the small business or work from home type of solutions?
Another thing I really wanted to know was that is FPL ever planning to have 416 area code for Toronto? Because that's really important for professional image of any local business and site owners.

From what I gather, using freephoneline for a home office is not a big issue. If you are using it with call center volume, then it is an issue. You can get a business account from freephoneline's parent, Fibernetics, if your needs are larger.

As for a 416 phone number from freephoneline, it probably will not happen. New 416 numbers are pretty rare, and freephoneline orders whole exchanges, so the likelihood of them scoring a new 416 exchange is rather slim. However, you can apparently still get a 416 number from Bell or Telus easily, so get a cheap prepaid cell phone account, get a 416 number, and then port it over to Freephoneline.ca You would of course have to buy SIP settings from freephoneline for $50 and pay the $25 porting fee, but that should not be a huge issue for a business.

Sorry for bumping such an old thread but it was the only one I could find in regards to my question.
I have tried using Fongo Works and in my opinion it is a complete failure (at the moment) For starters I cannot log into my account, I have even tried to reset my password multiple times and I still cannot log in. I have tried to contact support to no avail. The Fongo Works forum is locked and ever since signing up for Fongo Works, I have been receiving a deluge of advertisement calls at all hours of the day. So until Fongo Works issues are resolved and its no longer in beta I will be avoiding it.
Now to my question. I currently have a FPL number for my city. I would like to use the number for my small business. I would be expecting no more than 2-3 calls per day 5 at max. Will Fongo/FPL be ok with this or will my account be deleted?

Dont bother trying. Its very limited at the moment and not very stable. Wait until its out of beta.
