Accented characters displaying as "?" when reciving SMS

When receiving an SMS with accented characters (é è à ...etc), they are displaying as a black square with "?".

Any way to fix this?

I tried and that did not change anything.

Please note that is only for sms that I am receiving. Accents are displayed correctly when writing sms. However, if I am receiving an sms from someone and it contains accented characters, they will display badly.
