check tel line

Post by prc50 »

My Spa 3102 has been working fine and seems normal with all three lights on. Now my phone says check tel line. I have powered down for 20 minutes then, rebooted the modem, then the router, and then the ata, but I still get the message and I have no dial tone. If I bring freephoneline soft phone up on my computer, it say's no connection to server. Can anyone help?

Hi there,

Please try to power off equipment- modem, router and ata for at least 15-20 minutes and connect again after 20 minutes starting with the modem.

Try testing the line(s) after this- should be ok.

For the desktop issue, please login into your account and download latest version.

Please let me know.

Thanks,

Hi Fongo support

Thanks for the reply, but If you read my post again you will see that I had already tried that. I am not sure what to do next. Am I connected at your end?
I just tried powering down again and it is still the same. I downloaded the new version of the soft phone and now it shows connected. It allows me to call out, but it does not work if you call in.

Hi there,

If you did this already, please try the following suggestion to get the line up an running again:

Please reset spa3102 device to factory defaults and reconfigure it using the attached document as a reference.

If there are any issues after performing this, please send me a PM or open a support ticket.

Thanks,

There must have been problems on their end yesterday. My line was down for the whole morning. Then at some point in the afternoon it suddly started working again with absolutely zero interaction.

I'm not sure why support is telling you to reconfigure an ata that has previously worked. If it is working its not going to suddenly not work because of a configuration issue. Come on now.

Hi Wheemer

I tend to agree with you, but looking at the parameters of my ATA, I discover that my password has far more characters then my sip password. I have been trying to use different asterisk password programs to see what I previously used, but to no avail. It worked fine for a year.

Password fields usually show more asterisks than the actual length of the password. This is done to increase security.

Indeed my SPA3102 was faulty and I could access the IVR menu to reset reset it. I have now programmed a SPA122 and my line is now working, but I do not get a voice mail notification or signal. Could this be a setting I missed in the ATA?

Hi there,

If I understand this correctly- if you have VM in your mailbox, the MWI indicator is not blinking and there is not stutter tone on the phone.

If that is correct, then your ATA is not configured properly.

Let me know.

Thanks,

That is correct my messages are there if I dial *98, but there is no indication or stutter tone. Can anyone suggest where my settings could be missing?

Hi there,

Have you setup spa122 with static IP?

Please let me know.

This is what I have on my SPA3102 which is probably not much different than SPA122. This is found on the Line 1 settings for me. Check to see if you have VMWI turned on and MWI Service on. I believe it should be from default settings.

Hi hanke
Thanks for trying to help me out. I checked, and both VMWI and MWI service is on. I appreciate any suggestions that anyone may have.

Now that my topic problem has been solved and I have a different ata with a different problem, I will start a new post and hopefully get related responses.
