I Just recently had my phone number ported from Bell, as I was paying $93/month for 6GB of data and voice. They were tearing into me. So i decided to switch to a data flex plan instead. I came across this app, 'Fongo'.
When I opened it and tried to make a call I found while on LTE I had NO issues what so ever, with speeds from 10-20Mbps down and 3-11Mbps Up were perfect. While at home using Wifi (Tekksavvy cable) I was having issues with audio being sent out. Only one side of the conversation would happen fine, the other side would be broken and garbled(Max upload from tekksavvy in this area [1Mbps]). Watching the speeds while making a call on my smartphone(Adnroid) it peaked at 145-154KB/s(1.2-1.5Mbps) with overhead, It always dropped back down to 60KB/s.
After several troubleshooting steps from Fongo tech support I finally resolved the issue without doing anything with my internet setup.
The tech suggested using Open DNS Servers:
208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220
After inputting them into my routers settings, rebooted AND Bam so far everything works great no issues and voice incoming and outgoing work fine!
Now i'm running with a $35 5Gb flex plan with bell and 1.99/month texting plan from fongo! if i dont get upto 5GB than my plan is even cheaper! thats a slamm'in deal i think! I've had no issues thus far considering that, inside buildings and certain area's i rarely have cell signal anyways so it doesn't matter if i had voice or data. They both would be out anyways.
The replies for the fongo tech support were flying back and forth and their response times were quiet fast!!
Thanks guys!
