No Service At All.. 3rd time in 3 weeks!

Post by avalanche333 »

Hi All,

I keep running into an issue where I lose service entirely.
This is the 3rd time in 3 weeks this has happened to me.
Service works fine for about a week then drops, no incoming calls, not outgoing, no tone when I pick up the phone.
The first two times a router reboot (DLINK-615) and ATA reboot (HandyTone-286) fixed the issues. This time not even this works.
The light on the ATA keeps blinking red.

Any suggestions on how to permenently resolve this issue?
Let me know if you need more info.

That is a sure sign that it is toast if it had been a PAP2T. :(

Particular model of an ATA made by LinkSys/Cisco.

Hope that the technical support team helped you out avalanche333. Does seem like the device was having trouble staying registered. Let me know if there is anything more we can do. Thanks

The Dlink 615 is a router that is well known for having issues with SIP VOIP. I strongly suggest you have the firmware upgraded to the latest and greatest. I upgraded my Dlink 615 to DD-WRT, and my VOIP problems are no more.

I will vouch for that - I have a DIR-615 in my test lab and with the store bought firmware I couldn't use any VOIP services on it. Once I upgraded to D-LINK's latest firmware the issue was resolved. Their firmware upgrade notes specifically mentioned improved SIP support.
