can't get incoming calls 'insufficient funds' msg

Post by mculham »

I just signed up for a local Calgary AB number (I'm in Victoria) and I can call someone there no problem but when they try to call me they get a message about having insufficient funds to place the call. What's this all about? Someone with a cell phone with a local Calgary number was trying to phone my new Calgary freephoneline number and that was the result. Any ideas?

TheHardy is having the same problems http://forum.fongo.com/viewtopic.php?p=27428#p27428

Maybe there is something in the water down that way.

I think that with the new prefixes that Fibernetics assigned to FPL/Fongo, they have not been put into the tariff yet --- so Fongo's INTERNAL network is generating the error message when people try to call you ...

what is your Calgary prefix? Use the ratechecker utility to see if it is rated at $0.00 or $0.02 ...

I have the same issue with my 778-776-xxxx Vancouver # at the moment and have FPL-Mike looking into it for me .... as Jake quotes, see my thread for more info!

587-287 by any chance? Just dumped that thru the rate lookup tool, and it comes up as $0.02 ... so I am guessing your problem and mine are really the same issue ... :-/

Thanks 'TheHardy' My new number is indeed a 587-287. I guess that means I should get 'FPL-Mike' on it as well.

Funny that you're in Vancouver and have a 778 number. I'm in Victoria and also have a 778 number. I thought Van was all still 604. Guess I'm a bit behind.

778-776 is working, and I checked the rate lookup tool, 287 and 776 are rated free now, so that most likely cleared the problem. Glad we could find bugs in the Fongo system for them to fix ... I feel like such a guinea pig! ;-)

Dealt with ....

604 is only Metro Vancouver
778 is an overlay that covers all of 604 and 250 ...
236 will be the NEW overlay that will cover all of 604 250 and 778 .... (and it is on the near horizon).

778 was actually an overlay on METRO VAN before it was broadened to include first ALL of 604, and then also to include 250 as well (went from a CONCENTRATED overlay to a DISTRIBUTED one ... if you need to know...)
