Is this a service FPL has automatically signed us up for? Something they think we'll enjoy and being annoyed by? Please tell me there's a button someone at FPL can press to disable me from receiving faxes.

The same ones? Today?seagame2001 wrote:I got the same spam faxes
I tried calling the #'s on the faxes, all of them just ring and ring - not one has picked up.Red89GT wrote:I've never gotten a fax on my FPL
you should start faxing back the faxes to the people who send them to you.
This is the circumstance where *57 (Call Trace) would come in handy, if they repeatedly sent the spam faxes over and over. I know Fongo does not currently support *57, but there should be some mechanism for reporting annoying calls ...FONGO_steve wrote:As per our terms and conditions and privacy policy we do not disclose your number to any third parties. Unfortunately spam faxes are no different than auto-dialed telemarketing calls. It's best to put your number on the government "Do Not Call" list and start filing complaints with the CRTC every time you get spam faxes or calls.
Yes, If you want to send and receive faxes you need to choose voice codec ULAW or G711 any other codec will not allow you to send or receive faxesnew2this wrote:I can receive and make calls using my Linksys PAP2 NA adaptor. I used to get these type of faxes a while ago, but after I have unsubscribed my all FPL numbers I don't get any more faxes. unsubscribe number along with the instruction is at the bottom of the fax that you received. Just follow the instructions.seagame2001 wrote:I got the same spam faxes
How do you go about sending faxes? You need a fax machine, or is there a way to do this from the computer?nasir32 wrote:Yes, If you want to send and receive faxes you need to choose voice codec ULAW or G711 any other codec will not allow you to send or receive faxesnew2this wrote:I can receive and make calls using my Linksys PAP2 NA adaptor. Yeah, a fax machine would help. I bought a Samsung multifunction printer/scanner/feedtray/fax from Best Buy on boxing day for $100; the best printer I ever had. There's even toner cartridges on ebay for $30 (shipped from Canada).pete_fpl wrote:How do you go about sending faxes? You need a fax machine, or is there a way to do this from the computer?
It's not the fault of freephoneline. The fax machine at our workplace constantly gets spam like that, and they're hooked up through a standard Bell fax line.pete_fpl wrote:There has got to be a way to turn these bloody things off. I've called the # on the fax to remove myself from the list, but today I got a 3 page fax. I think my mother's # also gets these, but she only uses her # as a home phone so she can't view the faxes.
OK, I'm necroposting, an old Usenet[now WWW] no-no but you can from the computer for free:pete_fpl wrote: How do you go about sending faxes? You need a fax machine, or is there a way to do this from the computer?
Thanks mate, I think I ran into that site when I was looking for fax services, unfortunately when sending a free fax "FaxZero branding on the cover page" turns me off. On the rare occasion I need to send a fax, I use gotfreefax.comBrowncoat wrote:OK, I'm necroposting, an old Usenet[now WWW] no-no but you can from the computer for free:pete_fpl wrote: How do you go about sending faxes? answering Pete's question, if he still wants to know.
To the above, yes, spammers just use auto-dialers, one digit at a time...it hits all phone users equally.
