Problem dailing out to certain number

Post by pcurator »

Hi,

I'm having an issue with dailing out where I cannot hear the other party. However, the other party can hear me. This does not happen with incoming call.

I've tried fowarding ports 5060, 13000, and 16384 to 16482 but I've had no luck. I just don't know what to do anymore. I've searched the forums but just can't find a solution to fix this issue.

ATA device - Linksys PAP2T
Router device - D-Link Dir-655

I also have a Comodo Firewall installed.

I would appreciate any help here.

Thanks

You don't need 13000 (unless you use the FPL softphone) or those other ports forwarded, just 5060 & the RTP range. I believe it's 10000-20000.

There's no option to disable SIP ALG on the DIR-655. I've also remove the 13000 port but I'm still having an issue. After I reboot my router, it'll work for a while but then it crap out on me again. Is there anything else I can do?

I am almost sure that the 192.168.0.10 that you assigned to your ATA in port forwarding is not the true address of your PAP2T.

Do a DHCP address reservation for your PAP2T in your router Setup. Then put that address in your port forwarding field in place of 192.168.0.10.

Good luck! :)

**More**

Your ports 5060,16384-16482 must stay as they are in your router port forwarding, assuming that you are using the default SIP and RTP settings of your PAP2T's Line 1.

That is correct ONLY if:

- you did not save a DHCP reservation for your ATA (if it is in dynamic mode) in your router, or
- you did not assign a static address in both the ATA and router, or
- you put your ATA in DMZ with a DHCP address (because then it is effectively NOT behind your router, although physically it is).

I've heard that DIR655 router is not VOIP friendly. So today I exchanged it back for the Netgear WNDR700 and so far it's working wonder. I'll monitor for a few more days to see if I run into any more issues.

Thanks everyone for helping!

After 4days, I've not had any further issues. I did not even have to forward any ports and it's working amazing. Sound is crisp and clear.

Cheers!

Proof-positive that some routers are just POS.
