Can't send/receive texts through Fongo

I subscribed to the Canadian texting service, but it seems I'm unable to send or receive any text messages.
Any of the messages I send show the red 'x' icon beside it. I'm assuming that's saying it was unable to be sent. I checked with the recipients and they confirmed they never received any messages either.
Not sure what other information to provide. Any help would be appreciated :)

My SMS texting was working great up until about 7pm yesterday. Since then I've not been able to send or receive any texts. All texts I send have the red cross next to them (which is a nice feature by the way, it's good to know a send has failed). Also, the friends I was with tried to send texts to me and none have got through.

Q. Is there a website we can check to see if the SMS service is up and running?
Q. Do we get credited days to our account for any failure in the service?
Q. Do you have a historical record of outages so we can decide whether to continue with this service?
Q. How long do outages normally last? (Currently it's been down for 14 hours)

Thanks for any help.

Come on, people. What good is a phone service that you can't count on? If you want to be seen as a credible alternative to cell carriers, you've got to step your game up. Shit like this makes people who recommended you to friends look like idiots.

They had the same thing a few months ago. Messages were not getting through when they were sent but did come through a little while later which is obviously no good. I think the same might be happening again.

Last time they said they will be working hard with their SMS supplier to fix it, but obviously not hard enough.

Transparency is key in situations like this. If there's a problem, TELL US WHAT IT IS. Make a sticky post or start a twitter support feed. Don't make us come poking around in the forums to find out what's going on. That's just going going to piss us off more. Where's the official acknowledgment of the issue? WE know there's a problem, and YOU may know there's a problem, but unless we know you know there's a problem, it's just going to feel like nobody's at the wheel. Not a good way to instill confidence.

Unfortunately this forum is not an official support stream ( even though people are encouraged to venture here for support :? ) and I am not sure if the people that look after the backend of things ever come here.

There are some Fongo Staff that moderate the forum and help out with questions from time to time, but they rarely come in on the weekend. Even if they did, because they are not in the office there might not be anything they can do. In my eyes, this is where Fongo falls flat on it's face.

The fact of the matter is, shouting about it here will have no effect on how fast it gets fixed. Sad but true. The chances are the right people already know about the problem and are trying to fix it. An update, or service status page, would be FANTASTIC! but it doesn't seem to be the Fongo way. Maybe one day.

I take it you have all called in and asked support for help before posting here.

Nope, would they be open for support on the weekends? If you don't think they check the forums, I doubt I would get someone to help me with this.
It's just unfortunate that I subscribed last night, and the 1st time I attempt to use it, it doesn't work.

Not too big of a deal though, only 2$.

I've searched as much as I have patience for contact options to have issues resolved, and it's apparent that for Dell Voice customers all we can do is use the forum, and or email talkfreely@fongo.com

There is only a phone number to call for Fongo home phone support, probably because they pay enough money to afford that sort of service.

So unfortunately it seems like a waiting game.

Definitely not a reliable alternative to getting sms/talk service through a Canadian wireless carrier.

I called the home support line anyay. Asked for a refund on my txt subscription and they put me through to support. BUT APPARENTLy nobody works on the weekend and they dont really care if it is down. I was told that nothing would be done untill Monday when the support team returns to work.

I guess I have just been around here for too long 8-)

We have 3 devices that have all subscribed to the text package and have been unable to send texts through DV. We only use it as an addition to the normal cell though, so important texts have got through via Telus or we just called the person :)

Support from Fongo is crap now. There is no other way to sugar coat it. Back when it was just FPL is wasn't too bad, you could always get someone on the phone that was very helpful. Now unless you have home phone it is pointless calling in, but you never know - you might get someone like Fongo_Mike who is helpful and might listen to your plight.

Support is a big let down from Fongo, and it is why they will continue to loose or upset many of their customers. I have replaced my home line with FPl many years ago and couldn't be happier, but things are just no way close enough to even start thinking about replacing the cell phones with. We have DV loaded on a few iPods, and that works out well for us - when it works. When it doesn't work, we just wait until it does again. As I said, I have probably just been here too long and know these things will get fixed, just not very fast on a weekend.

Fongo needs a service status page without a question of a doubt. They might think that one may make the company look bad, but hiding away when everyone KNOWS there is a problem probably does even more damage.

I wish I could say something to defend them, but the facts are their support sucks and their systems break. They will come back online, but we never know when.

Then it was fixed within the day, but this is a weekend, not a Wednesday.

I wish I could say more. My family is in the same boat. I have paid for 3 subscriptions and none are working.

I know there is a problem from SMS but take it easy guys. If you don't like for what you paid just call the CSR for refund but $1.99 like a cup of coffee to test it out.

Just hope for the future version would be fix and run smooth

The messaging was working yesterday (Dec 05 2012). But it stops working again today (Dec 06). I tried to text a Rogers number back and forth a couple of times. But none of the message go thru.
Any fix?
