outgoing calls not working

Post by ibebriguy »

Hi :
For a couple of weeks now when I make an outgoing call, it connects, but then neither party can hear anything. My incoming calls are working fine.

I have a Linksys PAP2T ATA device connected to a DLink DI707-P router, using Teksavvy as ISP, and the setup has been working fine for years.

Thanks,
Brian

Have you tried rebooting all of the concerned devices?

I read in another thread this comment I am pasting below, but I'm not sure how to implement this:

reprogram the router and re-open/re-map the ports 5060-6061 (UDP) and 10000 -20000 (UDP) and to re-enable the UPnP. ALL WORINGK AGAIN NOW.

You will need to look in your router settings and forward the ports mentioned ( although I would probably not forward 5060 and 6061 unless I had to )

Google your router on how to forward ports and double check to see what RTP ports you need, 10000 to 20000 is quite a lot and might not cover what your ATA really needs. In my pap2t it uses 16384 to 16482

When you set up the port forwarding for ports 16384-16482 on your router, did you put in the IP address used by your ATA device, or the static IP you assigned your computer?

Thanks,

Well, I've not actually had to forward any ports. My router seems to play nice with my set up, but to answer your question - you will want to set up a static ip for the ATA and forward the ports to there.

Hi, thanks for the response, that seemed to work well.

The router software wouldn't let me assign a static IP to the Linksys ATA device, so I ended up giving it a static IP by logging into the ATA device itself and assigning it an IP address outside the router's DHCP auto assign range there. Then I went back to the router and forwarded the 5060-5061 and 16384-16482 ports to that static IP address of the ATA device.
