Been there, done that, with the guidance of Bell Internet Tech Support and still no audio in the Test Connection. So it is NOT the ISP!

Hello there,

Please ask Bell to disable SIP Application Layer Gateway on your 2wire Modem.

I have attached a screenshot for your reference.

Thanks,

Your screenshot page does not exist in my 2wire 2701HG-G modem. No listing of SIP Gateway Layer anywhere in my modem.

Hello there,

Not sure if users have access to change that setting- you might want to call Bell and ask them to disable it for you.

Thanks,

I don't know the modem, but I did a quick Google and found this which might help http://www.dslreports.com/forum/r277142 ... -sip-error

I will say though that I just read another post and it said that modem doesn't have the SIP ALG function. I thought it might be worth a go though.

This is happening to me 80% of the time, Tomorrow I am going to wire the computer straight from the modem with the Ethernet cable and not use wireless im hoping this will eliminate the problem, I will report back.

Same problem here, and i've always had the computer straight from modem with Ethernet.

Been using the google voice phone to call out, and it'
s free across Canada. But for some reason, maybe one in ten times, it has a similar problem too. Strange.

Since my first post, I almost gave up on expecting to see a solution. Since last week, I decided to wait and see what kind of a solution the tech support people would come up with.
Despite the post by Funkytown of March 10th, 2013, assuring everyone that a fix had been found for the problem I had originally posted; I got mine to work without relying on DMZ. The following details may help others.
In my case, the ip address was different than the one assigned by Linksys. I typed "cmd" in the "Search programs and files" section (remember, I am using Windows 7). It opens up a DOS window.
On the command line, I type "ipconfig". This presents several items. The one that is the most important is the ip address. As an example, it could showing 192.168.1.110. In the Linksys router, I confirmed that the ports were opened. I used PFPortchecker by portforward.com to confirm that the ports were properly forwarded. The ports that were correctly forwarded for both TCP and UDP were 5060 to 5061; 6060 to 6061; 13000 to 13000) and these were all assigned to ip address 192.168.1.100.
The problem was that the default ip address set up by Linksys (for example, 192.168.1.110, was conflicting with the ip address that was assigned to the ports (for example, 192.168.1.100).
By the way, once I made changes to the router, I always shutdown my computer. Then, I restart it.
After I got my sound to work, I ran the "Test Connection" feature of the new application.
It is still showing that the port for sound is not open! I have attached a jpg of this.
Though my sound port is open, and I can hear and talk with the caller who calls my freephoneline phone number, the error message is still showing up.
Since this is what I am reporting (after I have got it work) I hope this will clear any confusion for others that may still be experiencing the problem.

Today, it has stopped working. I am receiving the same error message that I uploaded as jpg file, yesterday. I cannot hear the caller. Also, when I call from the freephoneline application, I do not hear anything. It is not working!

Well, had to edit this a few times!

Not stopping at 32 seconds on outbound calls tonight; but after a few calls, it won't call out, reverts back to my number at the top.

Going with my previous thought: Let's go back to the previous interface, please. Even were it to work, nothing has been gained in going from 34 MB's to 5 MB's of code. At least until it has been more convincingly tested. (Would you buy internet from those people?)

Except that it appears that running it in the background interferes with google voice phone.

I can't comment or help on the actual softphone as I don't use it, but it made me smile when you mentioned the internet.

All I can say is that I have not had one glitch with it for the 3 years I have had them (SuperSpeed) as my ISP. :D Lately the phone service has been sketchy to say the least, but the DSL has been perfect.

It seems that nowhere on the new app is there anything that indicates whether you are connected or not. Am I missing something?
This new app just won't work for me. The old one was fine.

Your phone number should appear if you are connected. If it doesn't it should show some 'connecting' message I believe.

I have found it useful to restart the app after each use.

Wonder if they did the same nonsense to their Budphone? Will check it out later. There's also something called Nymgo, and another called I-Call, for a few dollars a month at 1/10 cent on all calls in and out.

Too bad for the paying customers with call volume. I have a couple of calls a week so can get by on something like the free phone at home.

I've had Vintone cable internet for 3 months now. ($31 a month for 6 Mbps. An ethernet line to one computer; a usb line to another. No dry loop fee. NO CONTRACT.) So far without interruption, and over the 6 Mbps! If anyone can beat that, please let me know. PLEASE!

Well, it's not much good unless error free.

Incidently, the BudPhone's 34 MB interface hasn't changed, and seems to be completely dead. Wouldn't hold out much hope for this one either, in the long run.

After doing additional tests with (voip.freephoneline.ca), calling the same phone number three time in a row, calls disconnects at 32 seconds. If i call the same number a fourth time, my outbound call is correct. No disconnection at 32 seconds.

If i call a different number, i have to do the same pattern.

(2013-04-27): PROBLEM FIXED!

Problem solved when FPL Windows Desktop v3.2.6 connect to: voip2.freephoneline.ca

You have to add two entries in the "hosts" file located at C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\etc

208.xx.xxx.165 voip2.freephoneline.ca
208.xx.xxx.165 voip.freephoneline.ca

Since moderator do not want us to post "public" IP :? (mod, you know what mean public?), you have to find it by your own.

How to find an IP from a hostname?

1. If you are using Windows, open a command prompt and type: nslookup voip2.freephoneline.ca

OR

2. go to this website hostname lookup

[quote="balsamboy"]OK.....I going to find a mod to send the request too.

Good luck with that. I can't even send a PM to a mod. I'm having the same issues as several others. It tells me I need 13000 open. Well I have no router and I disabled Windows Firewall to test it. Still exactly the same. And 5060-5061, 6060-6061, 13000-13001 are all open on the router.

Does the old version of the software work?
What version do I need
Where can I get it?

Who in their right mind would buy anything from this company when their service and support is so putrid?
