No Ring incoming call after tranfer number was completed.

Post by mikoul »

This morning I received an email telling me that my phone transfer is now complete!

So I changed my SIP User ID / Phone number in my PAP2T and I was happy but..

I discovered that I can make phone call but my phone don't ring no more on incoming call :?: :?: :?:

After 4 rings it goes on my voice mail like it should but I don't hear any ring here.

I did not change anything in my PAP2T except the SIP User ID/Phone number.

What can be the cause of this ? :( Everything was fine before the transfer !

I tried to reboot the PAP2T but nothing change, I've called me numerous time to test with different phone number but it don't ring at all :?

Help !

On your SIP settings page in your online admin, does it say that you are connected with a PAP2T?

Does your call logs online show the incoming test calls? If so this would show the calls are in fact coming into FPL so there might be a setting in the ATA that needs looking at.

In the past the PAP2T has played up when the & symbol is in the outgoing caller ID (eg John & Jane Smith). It might be worth a quick look at that.

You might also want to contact support via a ticket. Things like this has happened before and they have replied that the account has been 'forced registered', whatever that means. https://support.fongo.com/anonymous_requests/new

It's very strange in a way since it was working fine for the last 3 weeks with the temporary phone number I had before the transfer for my real phone number from my previous provider.

Yes on the phone log everything is fine:

I even receive email to tell me when people send me voicemail message.

I made a test calling myself and trying to answer when the phone ring but nothing happen, from the phone I call myself the phone ring and after the 4th ring it's my voicemail as usual since I can't answer.

I've already opened a ticket since everything was working fine till FPL transferred my number this morning. With the temp phone number everything was fine !

Here's more information from the PAP2T:

A support ticket is the way to go now then. It could be that something just hasn't clicked their end when you ported your number in. The calls look like they are coming in to their system, and your ATA is registered. They will be able to tell more from their end though.

Let us know how you get on.

On a side note, I like the screen capture tool you used for your screen shots :)

On a side note, I like the screen capture tool you used for your screen shots :)

For the capture I use "ShareX" which is free and OpenSoure, you can fully customize it, With a shortcut like F12 or anything you want, I take screenshot select with my mouse the area I want, it open in a basic editor where I can add text, highlight part or remove things, I close the editor and automatically it save it on my computer and same it on IMGUR and copy it in my clipboard. Just one short cut to do all those operation automatically. Moreover it save the complete history of your clip so later you can retrieve it or even delete it easily from IMGUR or reuse it.

I received a basic answer from FPL asked me if I have changed my User ID and basic things... and if I use the port 1. Port 1 or 2 it did not change anything but if I want it escalated I will have to configure FPL account on port #1.

I don't send screenshot with the ticket since I was thinking it would be obvious for them to find the bug that happened just at the moment they transferred my number.

So I found a way to backup/restore my PAP2T setting easily (Thanks to the Internet and Google :P ), I will backup my present PAP2T configuration and tweaks since it's perfect for sound quality and took me time to optimize and after I will use the provisioning file in the forum to upload in my PAP2T and enter my UserID + Password, save the config in a file, make complete screenshot of PAP2T. Put all the files in a archive and send it with the reply to the Ticket. :ugeek:

With all those information FPL should escalate my bug to a real tech to have my phone ringing again :)

One thing I think it could be is that my old VOIP provider had not closed my old account properly, I called them but the tech looked confused and told me it will close automatically the June 1st Tomorrow. I have a doubt since I can access my old account online with the same phone number and I can see it in my PAP2T registered.

I'm only sure that the transfer was done because of my voicemail and because of the call log ;-)

One question in my old config I had nor "Mapped Sim Port" and with FPL I have mapped it to 5060, I don't think it's the reason of the bug but do you know the purpose of this function :?:

As soon I have some development I will let you know, also for historical purpose it can help other in the future with the same issue.

Thank you for the information about the screen capture software. I will take a look at that.

I cannot tell you about the Mapped Sip Port, unless you are using the Rogers sip server where the server address includes the sip port. Maybe that has something to do with it.

I believe the registration state in the PAP2T indicates that the ATA can 'talk' to the server, not that it is authenticated on it.

Also as a reminder, this is a public forum and so it is suggested that unless you want your private information out there it is advised that you hide your phone number whenever possible. After all, it is one half of the login details for your account.

I finally fixed the strange problem :P

First I saved my PAP2T configuration in an HTML file and compared to a provision file for the PAP2T on the forum to find if some settings where different.

I found small differences that were the culprit:

As soon as I changed those settings everything went fine :D

The part that make me think the problem was in the back-end was because everything with the old settings was working fine since 3 weeks until yesterday when the transfer of my phone number was completed. It's very strange... Anyway I learned new things in this adventure all is not lost. :ugeek:

Here's how to make a backup of the PAP2T

1. Logon to your PAP2T device
2. Change the view to Admin and Advanced
3. Select the File – Save As option from your web browser and save the configuration page to your PC's.
4. This is it, This is your backup. It will save all of your settings.

To restore, you need to edit to the file you saved previously (anyname.HTM) to do this:

1. Right-click the file and choose open with - Notepad or any test editor
2. Search for <form action="linksys.pap" method="POST">
3. Change this line to <form action="http://IP Address of PAP2T Device/admin/advanced/linksys.pap method="POST">
4. Save and close the file
5. Now, double click the file to open it in your browser
6. Go to the bottom of the page and click on submit button.
Done. Your settings are restored, you just need to ad your Sip ID/Phone Number and Password

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I attach my configuration if someone need it just use it.

1- Check if the address of the PAP2T in the file is the same as your address and edit it accordingly.

2- Double click on the file

3- Go to the bottom of the page and click on submit button.

4- Don't forget to add your Sip ID/Phone Number and Password in the PAP2T and Submit again

Done. Your PAP2T is configured with FreePhoneLine.ca Settings as of June 2016 :D

Enjoy ! :geek:
