Try this one then,

([3-689]11|*xxS0|<705:1705>[2-9]xxxxxxS0|1[2-9]xx[2-9]xxxxxxS0|011xxxxxx.|<:1705>[2-9]xxxxxxS0|[*x][*x][*x][*x].)

Please copy and paste.

thxs for the help again, however I'm still getting the same results :( (not able to dial both 10 and 7 digits for local calls)

ugh.. just realized while typing this.. I meant to say 10 and 7 digit dialing.. seems I was saying 11 before.. which would mean to include the "1", which is NOT what I want. doh! :o
You're welcome and I'm sorry to hear that it still doesn't work. Others may want to help out.

Logically though, if your post quoted below is true, then one of the following dial plans that I suggested SHOULD work. You may want to double-check that you put and save the dial plan in the correct Phone Line tab of your PAP2T user interface. To recap.

([3-689]11|*xxS0|<705:1705>[2-9]xxxxxxS0|1[2-9]xx[2-9]xxxxxxS0|011xxxxxx.|<:1705>[2-9]xxxxxxS0|[*x][*x][*x][*x].)

OR

([345689]11|*xxS0|705xxxxxxxS0|1[2-9]xx[2-9]xxxxxxS0|011xxxxxx.|<:1705>[2-9]xxxxxxS0|[*x][*x][*x][*x].)

jgionet76 wrote:so this is my dial sting now which works fine:

Code: Select all

( [345689]11 | *xxS0 | <:1705>[2-9]xxxxxxS0 | 1[2-9]xx[2-9]xxxxxxS0 | 011xxxxxx. | [*x][*x][*x][*x]. )
when we call local calls we don't need to enter the area code anymore (which is what we wanted), however when we do add the area code the call fails. (says not in the teriff msg)

example:
when I dial 705-886-xxxx or 886-xxxx I want the call to placed. 886-xxxx works, 705-886-xxxx fails.
when I dial 1-xxx-xxx-xxxx it should be treated as a long distance or non-local call. (like it is currently set up as)

what do I have to change in my string to make this possible?

thxs

still no luck.. I tried both and I get the same results.
I did notice that I can place the call if I add the 1 in front of the 10 digit number when dialing.. even though it's a local call.

:(
I'm sure I'm not the only one that' ever requested such a dial-string. My other paid VOIP provider enables me to dial 10 or 7 digits for local calls.

thanks for trying

I followed all the steps through and replaced 705 with my 403 area code. I also get the exact same results as jgionet76: I can call now if I prepend a '1', or if I omit the '403', but I cannot call locally if I prepend 403. Tried both the suggested strings.

However this one seems to work fine and should achieve what you are trying to do:
(<:1705>[2-9]xxxxxx|1[2-9]xx[2-9]xxxxxxS0|[2-9]xx[2-9]xxxxxxS0|*xx|*xx.|[34689]11|822|4443|4747|0|00|[2-9]xxxxxx|1[2-9]xx[2-9]xxxxxxS0|4XXX|xxxxxxxxxxxx.)

Okay, one last dial plan and I am really giving up if it does not work. Try this...

([345689]11S0|<:1>705xxxxxxxS0|1[2-9]xx[2-9]xxxxxxS0|011xxxxxx.|<:1705>[2-9]xxxxxxS0|[*x][*x][*x][*x].)

jgionet76,

Looks like you may have missed my post, the string you finally found appears to be the exact same one that I posted above. However I still seem to get a delay when I dial a local number without the area code.

That is because your ATA will wait for 3 seconds (default interdigit timer) after your seventh dialed number before it dials out.

You need to press the # button to dial out immediately after your last digit. I hope this works for you. :)

Indeed, just tried it and it works like a charm. Now I just need to get used to '8 digit dialing' and add the # every time. Thanks much for the tip!
