Local calls vs long distance question.
I live in the Montréal Québec area and have a Montréal Free Phone Line number and when I dial most local numbers it is fine, however people with local Montréal numbers or cell phones get the message your call will be forwarded but long distances charges will apply... What can I do to to ensure that people in my local calling area will not be billed long distance charges ???

I use to get that msg on my cell when trying to call home (Ottawa)
travelling from Montreal to Ottawa (417), usually the 30 - 40KM marker in Ontario stopped that msg or 20 - 30 click mark travelling up the 416
So in all a 60 - 70 Km radius inside, around Ottawa wasn't long-distance.

I get the same message with my cell phone(bell mobility) calling my FPL #. but I having checked my cell phone bills I have never actually been charged the LD to make the call. Might be worth your time to check and see if its the same with you.

I have no issue driving Virgin nuts when I get charged LD for a call that should not be LD! You do it enough times, and they eventually fix their problem. It is really hard for freephoneline to do anything to fix other carriers incompetence. Better results are to be had when you bitterly complain to your cell phone carrier.Red89GT wrote:I get the same message with my cell phone(bell mobility) calling my FPL #. but I having checked my cell phone bills I have never actually been charged the LD to make the call. To be honest, when we had a similar issue with Bell and we call IXC, they told us to call Bells' residential services depot - Which of course is only for their customers to complain and not other businesses...

Re: Local calls vs long distance question.
Of course if you say "I cannot call my freephoneline number" they won't particularly listen since it's a single carrier. But if you read them the particular exchange they will listen a bit more - "I can't call 519-804-xxxx from my phone even though I know it is local".
