Been with FPL for approx year, and everything worked ok.
Recently (~1month) I have started experiencing problems with all calls, local and long distance.
After approx 15 minutes of talk time, the sound gets choppy, and the other side can't hear me properly. Today, after rediling immediately, the sound was still choppy. After redialing 5 min later, it was ok. It doesn't matter who initiates the call.
I've been using the same hardware/software configuration since the beginning, SB6120 (Teksavvy Extreme 15MB line), RT-N16 with Tomato, PAP-2NA. The choppyness seems to be independed of the other loads on the network connection.
I have powercycled the devices several times in the past month, more than in the year before. Not using QOS currently.
Any ideas? Steps to troubleshoot and identify?

Re: Choppy/disconnecting voice on calls
although you may have already tried this, i stil want ot make sure as it will help identify the issue.
1) Are you downloading or streaming any videos while on the phone?
2) are you using a cordless phone?
3) Cable or DSL internet?

1. yes and no. I have experienced this problem in both situations, so it seemed to be independed of the other uses of internet.

Re: Choppy/disconnecting voice on calls
If it is the person that you called has problems hearing you then you probably need to investigate you upload speed (You have 15 Mbits/sec down load but what is your up load speed?). Usually the up load speed is much lower than the download speed it is also much more sensitive especially to anything else happening on your network.

You could try a VOIP network test to see if your network is performing OK:mbalgavy wrote:any ideas?
