Toll Free numbers and DTMF on softphone

Post by Badger »

Hello!

I have been testing the softphone for a bit. I realized that on regular phone numbers, DTMF works, but on toll-free numbers, it does not register.

I would like to know if there is a fix for it in the future?

Thanks

Thanks for the further information on that. I have updated our bugzilla ticket with the programmers. Let's see what they say now

Hello once again.

Although the DTMF does register the numbers for simple menu in a simple IVR. Example: for english, please press 1. and francais, press 2, some bugs still exist.

Here is the case where the DTMF problem comes again. On gift cards, there is a 1-800 number to check balance. When prompt to enter the gift card number, I had to enter 10 numbers into soft phone, e.g) 1234567890, the IVR responded, the card you have entered 12256 or some random number. So basically, I punched in 10 numbers, and the other side responded saying I entered 5 digits and the numbers were totally off, so I could not continue.

I am pretty sure the problem is on the soft phone side, so if anyone could take a look, that would be great.

If anyone of you were wondering, I was trying to check balance on a Loblaws gift card. 866-443-8225

I have the same problem with DTMF even for simple menu in a simple IVR(such as, for english, please press 1. and francais, press 2). It works once time and then it never works again both for 1-8xx or 1-604-xxx, even the FPL voicemail number 1-604-283-4011, it just asked me to enter an account again and again although I have pressed the keyboard. Fortunately DTMF for *98 works. So everytime related DTMF, I have to back use skype.

Uninstall then install again, problem solved :)
does anyone know if uninstall and install this frequently will cause any problems to my system? anyway for sure this is not a long-term solution.

I have the same issue with Cisco IP phones (7940), I bought the SIP config. The IVR / DTMF work for some numbers (like leaving a number to a cell phone to call back) but just doesn't when I call a 800 866 888 numbers. I alos had an issue when I wanted to do a webex session with a friend I asked webex to call me to my FFL number then I need to press 1 to get connected, this never worked. You may try it with the google 411 > 800-466-4411.

I was trying to access my Rogers Wireless voicemail from the FPL.

BC:
+1 (604) 418-3471

Alberta, Saskatchewan & Manitoba:
+1 (403) 561-3172
+1 (403) 714-1188
Ontario:
+1 (416) 274-2817
+1 (416) 357-3229
+1 (416) 358-1549

Quebec & Maritimes:
+1 (514) 827-1251

I was prompt to enter my cellphone number, and it would not register my number properly. I recall accessing my voicemail in the past through FPL without a problem.

If anyone has a Rogers Wireless cell phone number and uses the FPL softphone, please try it out and see if you encounter the problem.

This would most likely be a DTMF issue, since our access numbers are SIP to SIP and Rogers is SIP to PSTN it may not being negotiated correctly.

What device are you using?

Just the soft phone itself and to re-clarify. I am using the FPL soft phone and dialing the numbers above to check my voicemail box for my Rogers Wireless.

Okay, can you make sure that your DTMF Tx method under the Other option in the Settings window is set to InBand, and you've forwarded UDP ports 5060 - 6061, and 13,000 - 13,001 to the IP address of your PC.

I forwarded the ports on my router to my internal IP address as you mentioned above, and is still experiencing the same problem.

Funny thing is, if I restart the FPL, the DTMF works fine on the first try. On second try, it will be messed up as I have mentioned previously.
