The Fongo Status page should be visited regularly: https://status.fongo.com.

There is also a Fongo Planned Maintenance thread, but I'm guessing most don't know about it: viewtopic.php?t=9242.

Scheduled - We will be migrating our Calling Platform to the newest version. This may result in downtime for various components related to account management and purchases on the calling platform itself. During this time: 1. No new registrations 2. No in app purchases
No action is required from users. We hope the transition goes well; please wish us luck. This will ensure stability and performance as we grow and grow!"

I'm skeptical that troubleshooting during this period will be useful.

Fongo Works has already been transitioned to the new version of the calling platform, and during Fongo Works' maintenance period, someone was getting a "this account number is not valid" error message when attempting outbound calls: viewtopic.php?t=20852. After maintenance finished, calls worked again.

Consequently, troubleshooting attempts from January 13th through January 16th are likely pointless. I suspect intermittent problems can arise (hopefully, not too many).

Thank you for the constant update. Much apprecaited.

I came her to report some call routing issues in the last 3 days, but I guess I'll have to wait till they complete everything.

In the last 3 days or so, I am having issues calling family and friends either on Freephoneline or Fongo.
I am on Freephoneline and calls out for the most part work fine. EXCEPT for calls to other members on FPL and Fongo Home phone.

I have a friend on FPL and mom on FHP. Dialing their number from my FPL home line, I get a message "The number you called 514.xxx.xxxx was rejected by the service provider. Reason is 403" and it just repeats. Calls to other number not part of FPL or FHP, I have no issues. They all terminal properly.
If I try to use my Fongo mobile number on my cell, to call mom on her FHP number, it dials and disconnects right away. I try to dial my home phone number or any other number and it works fine.

If I use my google voice service to call any of these numbers, it works and connects fine.

So it seems like some routing issue for some inter network calls.

Anyhow I'll try again at end of weekend after maintenance is complete and I'll report back.

Yeah, there’s no point in troubleshooting anything right now until the Fongo status page is back to normal: https://status.fongo.com/

At 11:35 p.m. EST on January 18, 2025, https://status.fongo.com/ indicates that everything is "Operational", including the "Support System". (I'm not sure if the Support System status is accurate because it still states "*Support team working to catch up after a high number of requests during the outage".)

However, https://status.fongo.com/maintenances/NOEqkx2G6tBj doesn't indicate that maintenance is completely finished. It appears to be in the "verifying" stage. Maybe that will change by the time I wake up tomorrow.

Regardless, I made calls from a Fongo Mobile account to few Freephoneline accounts, and incoming calls work fine. Calls to the Fongo Mobile account work fine from FPL. Calls from GV, Telus carrier numbers, and other VoIP service providers work fine. Incoming caller ID number appears correctly. Voicemail was left on a Freephoneline account and checked. Voicemail email was received (although it still fails DMARC compliance as noted here at viewtopic.php?p=82104#p82104, so it could end up in webmail spam folders). I tested (Simultaneous) Follow Me to an FPL number, and the call worked fine (another number rang simultaneously along with the FPL line). I don't normally use Follow Me because I can't block/filter known spam numbers with Follow Me enabled; calls are forwarded no matter what. So, I'm not going to test Follow Me extensively at the moment.

I haven't looked at syslogs, and I haven't checked to ensure calls work beyond 15 minutes (Freephoneline's session timer) on registered ATA and IP phone lines.

Proxy servers used were voip2.freephoneline.ca:5060 and voip4.freephoneline.ca:6060.

There's also a visual voicemail issue with Fongo Mobile, currently: viewtopic.php?t=20868.

Some accounts are still being migrated, and verification is still occurring on January 20th. Migration of active accounts is complete.

I forgot to post back.

Right after the maintenance was done, all the routing issues I was experiencing seem to have been corrected :) So guess it was just a side effect.

I think it would be nice when there is such a planned maintenance, that they send a quick email to all customers to let them know that some rare issues may occur with the service between those periods. IF they can send advertising emails to users, guess they could send service updates also :)

Thanks again Liptonbrisk for your inputs.

Yes, I've had the same thought for years. For suggestions, you can submit "Feedback" here: https://support.fongo.com/hc/requests/new.
